I have come to the realization that I have certain tips and tricks that most people do not use. I am quite baffled by this actually. So I thought why not write them down. And if there is something you don't know then it will be worth it. Feel free to let me know your own tricks.
1. instead of throwing away the ends of your loaf of bread, throw them in a food processor and then place in freezer bags or tupperware until you are ready to use them.
2.If you are only zesting a lemon, lime, orange or other fruit, squeeze the juice and place in ice cube trays in tsp increments. Once they are frozen they can be transferred to a freezer bag or tupperware.
3. If you like onion taste without onion crunch then place 1/2 the amount of onion stated in a recipe and place in a food processor and liquify. You will get a more concentrated flavor by using half as much.
4. When a recipe calls for bacon to be cooked then crumbled try this instead; Dice your bacon before cooking. This will help more evenly cook the bacon and keep your hands free of hot bacon grease.
5. If you want to keep the lid of your food processor clean, cover the opening with plastic wrap before securing your lid. This keeps food from dirtying your food processor lid.
6. For easy bread warmers, simply clean and wrap 2" wide stones in foil and heat in a 350 degree oven for 30 min. Then place inside your bread basket.
7. When you have leftover pesto or too much basilin your garden and make a lot of pesto, try freezing in ice cube trays so you do not get more than you want.
8. These pesto cubes are also really good dropped in bowls of hot soup for instant flavor boosters.
